

COXSWAIN
This Course is designed to give you the knowledge and basic boat handling skills to safely and responsibly Coxswain a powerboat on waters you are familiar with,
Mostly a practical course which focuses on low speed close quarter Manoeuvres to help gain confidence and build on your skill levels, it goes on to include Safety, Man overboard recovery, driving at planing speed, and the importance of collision regulations and understanding a Nautical Chart.

COURSE DURATION
2 Day Minimum
Extra time may be needed for participants with no prior experience
MINIMUM AGE
16 and over: No Ristrictions
12-15: Craft used must not be able to attain a speed through or over the water of 17 Knots or more.
Under 12: Craft used must fitted with engine of no more than 5hp (3.7 KW)
CERTIFICATION CRITERIA
Assessment is ongoing with Practical Challenges and Q & A Sessions. Participants will be required to show a level of Knowledge and Skills in these assessments.
Trainee is aware of their own limitations and those of the craft and is able to Safely operate their Powerboat in waters they are familiar with
